Hey friends, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and got caught up on a little rest.
I’ve been writing a ton over the past month, but tonight I just wanted to give a couple quick updates, since so much is going on these days.
First, since it’s now legal to listen to Christmas music, I want to let you know that I just released my second Christmas Hymns EP. Two years ago, I put out a three-song acoustic Christmas project for fun, and this year I decided to do three more. I’m toying with the idea of adding a few more and next year making it into a full album. We’ll see…
But for now, here are two EPs for your chill, laidback Advent mornings or evenings… (the photos are links)
I’m having a blast this month back out on the road with Andrew Peterson and the gang for the 25th Behold The Lamb of God Christmas Tour. I started playing on this show 23 years ago, and though I’ve had to miss a couple years here and there, probably 19 or 20 of these past 25 Decembers I’ve spent playing these same songs with this group of friends. I couldn’t be more thankful.
We started in a van. There were six of us and a road manager, and often not many more people in the audience. Now we’ve got two buses, over a dozen musicians, a crew, and usually a couple thousand people each evening, many of whom don’t feel like it’s Christmas if they don’t also get to sing these songs with us each year.
It’s an honor of a lifetime to be part of something like this, especially when you know it has disturbingly little to do with you. I’m humbled, in many ways, to be around such incredible musicians (and people) and to get to be part of such a special and important moment in people’s lives. This thing will go down in Christian music history in some form or other, and that’s a pretty cool legacy to be a part of… or liturgy… or ragamuffin band…
I think most of our US shows are sold out at this point, but we are doing our first ever UK shows this year, and they might feel a little more like they did when we were starting out, so if you’re over there, come out and see us!!

Finally, I’ve gotten word that the Hold the Light vinyl should be ready sometime next week, so if you’ve ordered those, you should be seeing them by the end of next week. Knock on wood.
Allegedly, I’ll have them in time for our shows at the Ryman this weekend, which would be amazing. Vinyl is old tech and is apparently made by actual dinosaurs who have to be unthawed and trained to work the machines and that’s why it takes so long, or so I’ve been told.
Oh, and I’m selling some random studio gear, pedals and a pedalboard, if you’re interested. If you want something, feel free to email me here. Especially if you know I’m coming to your town on tour!
That’s it for me today, friends. Thanks for reading the update. Can’t tell you how much I appreciate you all. Seeing you at these shows is such a beautiful reminder.
I am a thankful and grateful man. Cheers to you, my friends.
Love, love, love the Rich Mullins reference in your post! I got to be there at the Ryman for BTLOG on Dec 8. That experience will live rent-free in my memory for a long, long time, especially "ancient and strong!"
I was at the Ryman BTLOG show on Sunday!! It was AMAZING!!! :)
