That sounds awesome Andrew! I’ve been using a Prayer Book that an ACNA church on Vancouver Island put together. It’s a simplified BCP Daily Office booklet.
I look forward to seeing what your project looks like!
I am totally going to jump into this conversation cause I heard you are talking about our Daily Office book! The link is on our main page: https://www.christschurchoceanside.ca
So glad to hear it, Jesse. The BCP is such a helpful path to formational prayer but the whole book can be very overwhelming. This gives you everything you need for the Daily Office in one place. Please come visit us when you are here!
I’ve been interested in the Anglican Church in Canada, so I probably just saw the church on the ANIC website, and the followed their FB page. My in laws used to have a timeshare in Parksville, so we’ve spent some time in the area.
I’ve visited Resurrection Anglican in Kelowna, but it’s too far to make it a church home for us being in Lumby.
Would recommend! The church we’re a part of is in the ACNA. The few folks or leaders I’ve met from other churches outside of ours have all been really wonderful.
One of the things I love about the BCP is how it intermingles scripture readings and prayer. Also, one of the things I hate about the BCP is how it intermingles scripture readings and prayer. I don't mean that I hate Scripture, or Scripture + prayer! What I mean is that the prescribed scripture readings never seem to match up with what I am actually most drawn to/led to read at a given time: "Man, I really need some time in Proverbs, but the BCP says I have to read Thessalonians today..." I've tried doing my own thing, praying the daily prayers while interspersing my own reading plan, but it gets a bit clunky. It's honestly the biggest reason I don't use the BCP as much as I should. Anything that could help reduce that would get me using this type of prayer book a lot more!
I am so excited for this, I just wish it could come sooner! The CEO of the publishing house that publishes the BCP goes to my church if you need any connections there
Love this idea! I used to be really into the Divine Hours by Phyllis Tickle, which sounds similar. One thing I didn’t like about it, though, was that each prayer was so long. I know that this is close to what exists in the BCP as well, but I wanted something more manageable and easier to stick with each day. Looking forward to what you come up with!
This is great! I'm looking forward to it. I read your book, "How to Remember: Forgotten Pathways to an Authentic Faith". It was great! I can imagine this new project will be great as well. There truly is a need for something like this in our modern, fast paced world. God bless you, and your vision and this project. May it come to fruition and reach many, many people. 🙏 This may be random, however I can do a Spanish translation of your work should that be something of interest. There is a great need for soemthing like this in the Spanish-speaking community. This would be a blessing. Once again, God bless you and your family. 🙏
Im jazzed for common prayer. Im the Miles Davis of wanting this.
I'm your Coltrane, baby
Jazzed For Common Prayer needs to be a t-shirt.......

Is that Christ Church Oceanside in Nanoose Bay? A bunch of my friends are part of that community!
It is! I have yet to visit there, but I hope to next time I’m on the island.
That’s amazing. How did you come by the church, if you don’t mind me asking?
I am totally going to jump into this conversation cause I heard you are talking about our Daily Office book! The link is on our main page: https://www.christschurchoceanside.ca
Hey! Thanks for jumping in! I’ve been really helped by your book.

That’s awesome! The ACNA is pretty rad from what I understand

I hit send too early but edited this comment. Hopefully it updates!
This sounds brilliant. Excited to see it.

Oh my gosh! Perfect! I’m so excited!
Ahem. *waves, clears throat, looks shy* Do you need readers to test this stuff? Do you need an overly enthusiastic launch team member?

You're the best!
I love every part of this. You won’t have any lack of people offering to help but I’m willing to help however I can if needed.
